      That is an EXCELLENT idea.

In fact I can't believe the publishers of the "dummies" series of books hasn't put out the vBuilletin for Dummies. It would vault to the top of the best seller list within a week!

          I agree Steve

I think that someone with AdsNew would need to assist as I think that this is the direction my problem (misunderstanding?) is heading in...The only problem with that (and PLEASE don't take this the wrong way - all you phpAdsNew peeps!) Is that they say on their forum that it could take up to 10 days for someone to post a solution or help out...

Simply created a new folder in my root dir. and added the banners to it..walla! Seems to be working ok, for now...so I'm not messing with it anymore...Thanks for all your help!

It would seem prudent for VBulletin to create script for inserting ad banners. Most VBulletin sites use ad banners. Come on Machol. Get off your butt and do this.

Actually, a large majority of sites do not use any type of advertising software of any sort.

We have provided you with a method to get banner ads onto your forums.

What specificly do you need help with?

If I got 'off my butt' then I would not be very effective at providing support since I can't type very well standing up. Nonetheless:

                  a. I am not a Developer
                  b. You do not need a special script or add-on to use banners with vB. I've had one on my site for years. I don't understand why you can't.

We have been using script to generate the ads on our site, and there are horrid problems with users not being able to log on or change passwords. We have corresponded with you, and you said we needed some other script and you could not help us since it was not VBulletin script. So, here we are, with ad serving problems. You say that you have provided a way to put the ads on VBulletin forums. Where is that method described? Is the menu in the Admin Control Panel? Someone in this thread seems to be trying to install PHPAdsNew to generate banners in VBulletin, so apparently the method VBulletin supplies is not very good?

I searched your on-line documentation using banners, ads, and logos (one at a time) as search words. It said there were no results. Where the heck is your documentation for inserting banners?

There is no documentation for 'banner ads'. In the simplest scenario you can edit the header template to add a banner, which is what I do on my site: www.optiboard.com/forums/

If you wish to run a script for this, then you will need to make sure the script does not conflict with the built-in vB functions, which is what was causing your problem.

As I stated in your support ticket, many people use phpAdsNew successfully for banner managment. Try searching for that.

So, there are no instuctions for adding banner ads? Wow, what great documentation! Actually this is really pathetic support.

I have removed all non-VBulletin script, and we are still having terrible problems logging on and with passwords. This software just seems to be full of bugs. I have to log on twice to get my user name to log on, and I am the Admin! Other users are e-mailing me to say they can't log on at all, or are getting error messages that says such things as you have tried to log on 8 times out of a maximum of 5 tries. You sure this isn't version 1.0?

Time to move on to forum software that is at least a B minus. Lots out there to fish through and choose from.

The instructions for adding a banner ad are:

                          1. Edit the header template:

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Edit Templates -> header

                          2. Add your banner wherever you want it to appear in the header.

However if you are trying to use a non-vB script, then you have to be aware that such scripts may conflict with the built-in vB scripts. We cannot possibly ensure that our code is compatible with every non-vB script available.

As for the problems you are having, as per your suppoort ticket these problems do not happen with the original vB templates. I confirmed this as did you. Therefore one or more changes you made is causing this problem. If something has changed and you are again having problems with the original vB templates and files, then please update your support ticket so I can take a look.

I have also suggested several times that you check out the phpAdsNew script which many vB customers have integrated successfully.

                            JEJ,

Why would jelsoft give you instructions or support on how to add banner ads when they aren't a part of the default installation?

Just because you cannot get something to work, doesn't mean vbulletin is full of bugs, it appears you lack the patience to make it work.

I inserted in forum home a banner after your indication and is ok. But I have two spaces marked in red arrows (in the attached screenshot). How can I get rid of them?
