Possible reason for getting 500 Internal Server Errors

Well one of my clients were getting internal server errors while trying to change settings in the administation area, so I thought it was because of the PHP version that was on the server (maybe the update wasn't compatable with VB) That didn't fix it, checked the logs... Nothing useful.

But then it came to me, I had Mod_Security installed and disabled it, restarted apache and now everything works fine. Does anyone know if this would still happen on a vanilla install of Mod_Security?

    Possible causes:

    1. Server running PHP in CGI mode.
    2. Scripts added to the vB templates that cause this error.
