Can I have text next to an image...?

I want to be able to post an image within a thread, but to have text that then appears aligned right next to the image. I can't fathom a way to do this. Whenever I put an image in a thread, the image takes up all the equivalent line spaces and I can't add text next to it.

You can see what I mean by taking a quick peek here where I have an image in a thread that I would like to have text aligned on its right.

    Any advice...?

Making a custom [img] code and adding align="left" to it might work?

Yes, I would like to know how to do this as well. I see other sites that have images posted next o text in story blocks, news blocks etc. I want to do this as well, but can't figure it out. I even tried doing it in MS Word first and then cut and pasting it over to the forum, but that didn't work either. If someone could give me an example on how to do this, that would be great.

The only way to do this is to use the TABLE HTML tag (this can be done in BBcodes). Your left TD is the image, and your right TD is the text. You can have an "ALIGN=" component to your TD for the text, and it will behave according to your specifications.

My teckie guru mod Keppler (also on vb.com) came up trumps and created a BBCode that works a treat. Happy to share if anyone wants it...

Check it out here in the top news thread.

Yes, that is exactly what I want to do. Do you think you could post the code or send it to me?

By the way, very nice looking theme on tMP.com! Well done!

Hey Dave... thanks for the comments about tMP... much appreciated sir.

Of course I'll share, here you go:

                  Title: Image Left
                  Tag: imgleft
                  Replacement: <div align="left"><img align="left" src="{param}" hspace="3" alt=""/></div>

I created a button as well.

                  That OK...?

I asked TheMusicMan if he wouldn't mind me reviving this thread. Thanks, John.
                    <div align="left"><img align="left" src="image url" hspace="6" vspace="3" alt=""/></div>
This is the code I used, but have a new problem associated with it. When an image falls near the end of a post, or when the image is longer than the included text block, the image seems to encroach into the signature area. An example is here: http://forums.themadmodder.com/showthread.php?t=48

I'm still very new at tweaking vB, know damn little about coding, but I think the solution to that problem might be in altering the code for signatures, not the image alignment code. I thought even changing the signature bar to an actual image (see the reply to my own message at that link) might fix it, but I don't know where or what code to use to do that.

If, in fact, there is some additional code to add to the image alignment code, please let me know. I hope this will generate some new interest in this topic and some of you will offer your suggestions.

                    Thanks,

                    Jim

I am sorry to see this is yet another post that has gone unanswered.

I did find where to change the signature bar to an image -- a pencil. However, there is still the problem of the last image that has text wrapped around it also having the signature wrapped around it if the message text doesn't go all the way to the bottom edge of the image.

I began a new thread about putting a table around the signature HERE, hoping that might be a solution. But no one has replied to that thread either.

C'mon, you guys. I'm beginnin' to think I might have cooties.

                      Jim
