Members choose to ignore a forum

Hi there,

Quick question. I have a forum with a section about politics. Many of my users would like to have the option to ignore politics forum so that it does not appear in their "new posts" and in other places.

Is there a way to let users choose whether or not they are in the usergroup that has no permission to see the politics forum?

I would do it the other way around and make a group that has permissions to use it and have members join.

Just create a public usergroup with or without a group leader and then users can join it in their UserCP under "Group Memberships".

Assuming you want to do it the way Dan mentioned (i.e. everyone sees it by default but can opt-out if they choose) is there a way with the current software? Thanks!

Add a new secondary usergroup, make sure their forum permissions are all set to no, and then users can opt to join it as long as its made public
