    Enable Meta Keywords & Descriptions

    Here's the deal;

    I've added both meta keywords and descriptions via the ACP, see below:

    However, these do not appear in Google, again, see below:

    Any idea why this is the case?

    That's a good question. Don't know why but it's the same for my websites. Maybe google doesn't display the content of the meta-tags on their search result pages?
    That's the end of that!

      Google does, perhaps it's a vBulletin error. Although, other boards using the same software have their meta tags read and displayed on Google. Confusing.

          I have no idea why Google isn't displaying these. Where exactly is Google supposed to display this info? Can you give a real example?

            Here's an example of when the meta tags are displayed correctly:

              Sorry I really don't know the answer to this. I've never noticed Google showing the meta tag info before.

                  I've tried making a few changes and I've yet to see any significant changes. I've also found other vBulletin based boards with the same problem.

                  Would it be worth creating a support ticket for this?

                    I answer the majority of support tickets and I wouldn't be able to help you. Again this is a Google issue that I am not familiar with. Do you know of any vB forums that have the meta tags showing in Google? If so, what are they? If not, then it would appear that Google is not able to do this for some reason.

                        How can I make my community display as above in Google?

                          Anyone?

                            Envy-UK, you cannot make Google do anything. It does not often use Meta tags as part of it display and probably never uses them as part of the ranking algo.

                            What decription Google displays is based on the Search Term Used. For example, use the term vBulletin Community Forum and you will get a another description again
