Did you choose to overwrite an existing style or import as a new style? And exactly what are you doing?Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

I bought a style, installed it and one of my web developers in his infinite wisdom deleted the default vb3 style.
We upgraded to gold the other night and I wanted to re-import the vB3 default style.
I chose Download/UPload Styles
Create new Style
used the one fromt he server ./install/vbulletin-style.xml
Title = vB Default
No Parent
Display order 10
Allow user sleection Yes
Choose import.
It pops a box, that says
You did not specify a file to upload, so vBulletin will attempt to import the file ./install/vbulletin-style.xml from the server's file syste.
Are you sure?
I hit ok.
It wont import it.
However, maybe this is the proper way and I just didnt know it.
I went in created a new style, then imported overwriting that style and it worked.Comment

Actually that's exactly how it's supposed to work. The install/vbulletin-style.xml file is the original style and uploading it overwrites the Master Templates - it doesn't create a new and separate style.
To make a new style with the original templates and settings, choose 'Add New Style' and make sure you don't pick a parent style for it.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

I'm asking this because I did the same thing as the original poster and luckily I found this thread and a solution but now I'm wondering what that "first step" did.. so if it overwrites Master Templates - what happened. What templates were overwritten?Comment

The master templates are the templates that are used when a template has not been modified.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

by StephenKaySo I've been working on a new installation of vB 5.3.3, and I started with the Default Style. I've modified a bunch of things with css_additional.css. I started looking at style vars, and that made me...
