    Message on Forum Index

Is it possible to put a message on the board index for new visitors to view? I want to put a small paragraph about my website.

    Thanks

    Can you be more specific?

When a guest views the main page of the forum, I would like there to be a paragraph welcoming people to the site and telling them what it's about.

You can edit the forumhome template to add whatever message you want:

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager Edit Templates -> GO -> Forum Home Templates -> FORUMHOME

This is all good, but I only want UNregistered users to see the message. It will be a "Welcome visiter/view our FAQ before posting/blah blah blah" message. How do you set that up?

You can use conditionals to do this. Here is the online documentation for using template conditionals:

WOW! I had no idea that conditionals were now available for vB2. Thanks for the hard work Steve!

No, conditionals are not available in vB2. You need to upgrade to vB3 to use these. We get so few vB2 questions anymore that I made a mistake and assumed this was in the vB3 forum.

Sorry, that was my fault. I found the question in a site wide search, not caring which forum I was in. I use vB3 and should have mentioned that fact.

Anyway, thanks again to the vB team for the excellent software. It is worth every penny.
