vBulletin slow while the rest of the website isn't

This has started happening off and on the past few days. The vBulletin board becomes so slow that it's not possible to access at all, while the rest of the website is working normally. I can't find any pattern, it just suddenly becomes terribly slow for a while.

Does anyone know what may be causing the board to be so slow?

Yeah that's just terribly bad timing, network maintenance going on today. I should have waiting with the topic until tomorrow
