    Attachment Problems

    Hi All,

I have been getting alot of DB errors evertime i try to attch anything to my Forum. I am running 2.3.0 at www.VFXTalk.com/forum

I have an example error email that i can email to anyone interested in helping. Just email me here: [email protected] and i will forward the example email to you.

This is the last couple of lines in the error:
mysql error: Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet'

    mysql error number: 1153
But i have allowed a max attach sive of 3 Mg .. !! ?? so it is a bit confusing...

This example error email was after i tried to upload an allowed file type of size 1.1 Mg (file type and size ARE allowed )

    Cheers for any help

    Thanks alot

    Paul

    Edit my.cnf to add:

    set-variable=max_allowed_packet=xM

Change it to the size ('x') you want in Megabytes. Restart MySQL after making these changes.

If you are not comfortable with server changes like this then it's best to have an expert do it. Is this something you can ask your web host to do? Note this does require root access to the server.

Not quite as snowed under at the moment - finished a rather hectic job at the end of last week, so am spending this week catching up with all the stuff I got behind on....

Will do this one now - thanks for the advice Steve...

              Okay - should be fixed.....

I've set mySQL to allow packets of up to 4Mb (the may on the forum is 3.5Mb...)

              Cheers again Steve
