    Backup with Shell Access

I have shell access to my forums.
Can you suggest the best utility to make use of this for backups.

    Thanks.

Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)

All I know is that I have a flag in my site's control panel that says shell access in on.
What I really want to know is how to connect and where do I ender those commands.

Depending on what OS you are running just go to the command line and type:

        telnet yoursite.com

You'll then be prompted for the user name and password supplied by your webhost. This is usually the same as your FTP login info.

          Darn it!
          Didn't work
A quick e-mail to my host and it looks like they do not support telnet access.
They said that SSH access is available.
          How does this work?
They suggested that I use the client putty.
          Does anyone know this?
          Would you recommend anything else?

          Thanks.

            Download and use PuTTY:

You can always do it via a cron job.

If you have the option in your control panel, by all means use it -- its easier

Here's what I have -- daily backups done automatically -- and then I download them personally the next day (but I also have everything on the hard drive backed up to a separate hard drive as well).
