Change titles from custom status to default?

I have had custom titles enabled for a long time now. I'd like to revert back to using only the default titles. However, when I change the settings from w/i the admin cp, the custom titles for members remain. It appears that they can no longer change their titles (custom), but I cannot get all the titles back to the default setting dependent upon the # of posts they have.

How can I do this? Do I have to edit the db?

Admin CP -> Import & Maintenance -> Update Counters -> Update User's Titles

This will reset all user titles back to default.

that's what I thought too. However, that doesn't do it. The already given custom titles remain.

Do you have default titles set in your Admin CP -> User Groups -> Modify -> [edit] -> User Status?

It was blank for "Registered Users". So I put in "Registered". Some of the "registered users" show their titles as being "Registered", some are still using their custom titles.

I'm trying to get the titles to change depending on the # of posts that a user has.

Did you set 'Enable Titles' to 'No' in the Admin CP?

Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)

I've toggled that setting a few times. Doesn't help. I set it to "no", then udpated User Titles.

All titles are still the customized titles that people have given themselves.

While this current setting is in place ("no") it may prohibit future title changes...it will do nothing to RESET user's titles (which is what I'm attempting to do).

Is there a way to do so in sql?
