    Thread View counters stopped working

    The counters stopped working last week. I had made no changes. All new threads are showing 0 views and previous threads are showing no increases.

    Any ideas??

    Try this. Open /admin/functions.php and change:

    $noshutdownfunc = 0;

    to

    $noshutdownfunc = 1;

      What does this do? I'm very curious since all of a sudden today, my vB forum stopped counting thread views. After finding this thread, I made the change and now thread views work again.

      Nothing has changed on my server in at least a week or slightly more. I wonder why all of a sudden it just stopped counting thread views.

        For some reason you are unable to use shut down functions with PHP anymore. Your host probably upgraded and/or reconfigured PHP.

          Ok, I talked to my host and they said they have made no changes to PHP or mySQL on my server recently that would cause the problem. The only configuration file that has been changed that I could think of would be the my.cnf file ... but mySQL has been restarted at least 20 times since those changes were made a while ago.

            I seriously doubt that this problem would suddenly appear with any changes to the server. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

              I agree... that is why this seems so strange. The only thing that has changed on the server was a creation of a symbolic link to the mysql.sock file for my server (it's a dedicated server running PSA).

              Could the mysql.sock file be related to this problem?

                It's possible but I really don't know.

                  Well... The server company says they didn't make any changes (aside from creating a symbolic link to the mysql.sock). I didn't make any changes to configuration files other than the my.cnf file (but that was made a while ago, and mySQL has been restarted plenty of times since). Server traffic hasn't increased any, in fact server load has decreased. I don't understand this at all...

                  Could it just be that my server is haunted?
