    Change User Name

One of the users of my vb is asking me to change his
user name. Is this possible and if so are there any repercussions?

Yes, just pull up his profile in the Admin CP and type in the new name. Makes sure you the thread and forum counters after doing this.

I entered the admin part of vb, listed all users, picked the one I wanted to change by clicking edit to the right of his name, got his profile, changed the name, pressed save and received the following message:

Database error in vBulletin Control Panel 2.2.5:
      Invalid SQL: SELECT userid
      FROM user WHERE username='Joe Gandolff'
AND userid <> mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax near at line 4
I am trying to change the name from jgandolff to Joe Gandolff. It reverts back to: jgandolff.

This problem is caused by the latest versions of PHP which have broken some of the functions of older versions of vB. Your host must have recently upgraded to PHP 4.2.x. To fix this you need to upgrade to vB 2.2.8.

          Yeah Jose,

HM upgraded to 4.2.2 across all servers a few weeks ago, though register_globals is still on.
