I have a bulletin board at www.moparstyle.net with a phpPortal (most recent version). All was well until my server had a php upgrade – then members would get logged out from time to time (some more than others) and presented with a blank white screen (some more than others). I posed that problem here – and it was suggested that I upgrade 2.2.5 to 2.2.6. (Standard hacks that I use are stathack, quickreply, Who-was-Online-Today, and Welcome Panel)
Wednesday night, one of the guys who does tech support for the server, said he’d do the upgrade for me. He has done 100s compared to my zero – so it was a good deal. All appeared to go well and the blank white screen problem disappeared, but a couple members emailed me that they could not log in.
I finally figured out that the reason most could was because their cookie would log them in when they hit the site – but those who log out would get a www.moparstyle/member.php can’t be found error if they would try to do something required of a registered member (User CP, post a reply, see what posts members were viewing. etc) before logging in. They would get the login screen (after trying to do something required of a registered user), but after entering their login info they’d get the above mentioned error. (I know that page resides in the forum directory – but hear me out) On the other hand, if they entered the site and immediately used the login on the portal or the forum – there would be no problem.
So I look at the P_logincode & error_nopermission_loggedout templates in my Default (I have 14 styles – do not ask ) Style and see that the $bburl appears to set the directory for the member.php – but I cannot find where $bburl is declared. What I have done is to hard code the address for now and all appears to be well. However, as opposed to hard coding that in all 14 styles – I would rather fix the problem so I can have a testing forum with the same styles.
I am not a php (or HTML) programmer, but I am very good at following detail instructions and very familiar with computers.
Any advice?
