    New posts setting

The new posts link seems to time out too soon. Is there a way to set it to last longer, like maybe 12 hours or something?

The new posts feature isn't on an "time" basis (i.e. minutes, hours, etc) - it's since your last visit

      So

Can I make it last longer? I had a forum member ask me this. He said its like having someone stealing your paper or a puppy using the first page

This is set by the Cookie Timeout setting in the Admin CP. The default is 900 seconds (15 minutes). You could try increasing it but this will most likely create other problems for people who come back to your forums later only to find the 'new posts' are the same ones they saw the last time they were there. It would also distort the number of members who show as 'Currently Online' since it would take 12 hours to their names to come off this list.

In short, it's a bad idea all the way around.

So I can just tell him that after he sees the "new posts" that they will go away after say 15 mins or what ever I set it at.
That is how I thought it worked in old version but was hoping new version had a setting for that.

          Thanks for the help.
