    Suggest this site to a friend feature

    I've seen a few vbulletin boards with a link and icon to "suggest this site to someone" to generate an email to whoever they choose. Is there an easy way to do this or a hack. Also, wondered if it was a registered user if their referral link code could be placed within that email as the link to click so they get credit.

    Also, if I email users is there a string (like that email activation string) I can place in my emails to users which has their referral linking code?

    THANKS!!!!
    Marc

    This is not a feature.

    You request it as a hack at vbulletin.org

      This is a discussion forum powered by vBulletin. To find out about vBulletin, go to http://www.vbulletin.com/ .

      Be sure to enter your username at vbuleltin.com/members/vbulletin.org.php as well. Or you won't get any support on the link I gave above.

          Thats just for the specific thread, not the site.

            But you can use it for anything you want... in case you didn't know the message is completely set by you (except for a little legal notice) so you can use it for anything.

              Then why does it say;

              Email this page ?

              I think you should make a Recommend this Site feaature where it has the name and comments etc of the site that the admin can set. What you think ?

              If you dont think its a good idea I might program it myself.

                Please do! A sitewide recommendation that the admin can set the message is exactly what I (and many others) was looking for. Something to make it easy for a registered user to email their buddies automatically with your site name, link (with their referral code if registerd), and invite text. Maybe they could enter up to 5 or 10 names on one form (registered users only).

                The other "email this page" should only be sending that specific page to bring that post to somebody's attention but why not have a global suggest this site to increase one's user base? I've seen it on many sites and wondered why the feature wasn't here. If you could hack it I'm sure alot of people would be happy! I'm still learning php and mysql (I was a perl nut and converting now...) so it's a little over my head still.

                Thanks in advance if you attempt it!

                  I just finished a hack that does most of what you want.
