My spell checker does not appear to be present though I am pretty sure I have it set up? Any ideas?

I never cared for spellchecker.net and in Discus I just uploaded a dictionary - it's much faster and better spell checking as I added my custom.txt with all the industry specific lingo.
Is this difficult to implement? Planned for the NEAR future?Comment

Christine:

That was in "Discus", another forum software that I recently quit due to lots of problems. I just installed vB.
I don't know a thing about coding other than a little html, but the spell checking was one feature in Discus that worked really well.
To me it's quite important to have spell checking and a custom dictionary, it saves me and my readers a lot of time.
It also greatly enhances the search results when words are spelled correctly, my forum is primarily a resource, not chat.
So, any "official" word on the status of spell checking will be greatly appreciated.Comment

No you cannot get rid of the word table.. it is the basis of the search engine built into vBulletin. Without it, you will not be able to search at all.
Jelsoft and several third party companies are developing spellchecking modules. You can also use spellchecker.net's paid service still.Translations provided by Google.
