apache errors

I am ocassionally getting "file not found" errors in my apache error log file for the following files:

images/newthread_on.gif and images/reply_on.gif

Does anyone know why these files are requested? I don't see these files in my images folder however.

If they are in your style template somewhere (for example forumdisplay and showthread) then it is correct if they are not on the server and show up as 404.
