When posting quotes slash is entered??

Hi on my forum when I post something in quotes this happens,

    "they were \"not the right kind\". "

Its adding the \. Of couse php uses slashes before quotes, but why is this doing that? Ive never encountered this before. Any way to remedy such a thing?

Turn off "Magic_quotes" in your php.ini file.

Where exactly is the php.ini file located? Is this on the servers side?

I just turned it off in my php.ini file (which is done either in your WHM or your host has to do it) and instead of 1 quote I get 2!

And it only happens while in quotes.

          Are you still using vb2?
