unfortunatly i don't think the backup can save it as a text file to your server. What you have to do is:
i) select all the text and save in text file on your computer
Then to restore. Use phpmyadmin, copy and paste into the query box and run.
But a better way....
get sqlmyadmin from www.gossamer-threads.com. It allows you to backup your database to your server whereever you want and also allows you to import (ie run the query) from your server. It is very easy to use and recommened as well as phpmyadmin just for this purpose really. -
The texts are the mySQL codes. Do not alter the code if you don't know what you are doing.
Leave them in a folder(Recommended to put backup files in non web-accessable folder) or store them in your local harddrive.
To use the backup files, use telnet/SSH. Log into your server and type mysql restore command.Last edited by klisis; Fri 2 Mar '01, 5:56am.Comment

by rnedelkowDoes anyone know how to backup forums using the backup utility on Rackspace? I don't want to create an entire disk image, just backup the database to install on a new server.
