Thank you everyone... I appreciate your participation. Well, there is something to be said about bigbigsavings.com... (no offense to the owner of the site) but for being someone difficult to look at ~ not the greatest of designs ~ he/she sure has done something right to bring in 800 users at any one time (I applaude the owner for that)... that is a popular board ! ! !

What number of simultaneous users could I have before my host (shared hosting with hostrocket) starts to get mad and asks me to leave? Can anyone give me a ballpark figure?

Depends on if they have MySQL setup properly, whether it is running on the same box as Apache or on its own and how many sites are using MySQL.

It could range from anywhere to 10 through 50.

FWIW I spent 5 weeks in Sydney last June .. love the place & the country! And .. I never heard an Oz say "baddest" & I've been to Oz 3 times!

Wow, not the greatest of designs? My brain is starting to hurt when I even think of all the colours. But what hurt me the most was the 'register' button. :)
