Problem in Step 3 ... Please help!!!!!

im attempting to install vbulletin on a website im building. ive gone through the customization of the config.php file, and uploaded the files and have begun the installation process. im getting the following error on step 3:

    Attempting to connect...

Warning: Access denied for user: '' (Using password: YES) in
    /home/mypctc/mypctc-www/forum/admin/db_mysql.php on line 50

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/mypctc/mypctc-www/forum/admin/db_mysql.php on line 56

i contacted my server, and they got me hooked up with the mysql database on my site. i currenly have a database created called "mypctc_com" (i thought that wouldve taken care of this problem, but i still cant get past step 3)

please help!! i really need to get this up and running. i dont really know anything about "mysql" or "php" or anything...but im very good at following directions. at this point, im at a loss. i'd appreciate any help i can get.

feel free to contact me via email or yahoo IM.

Appropriate permissions to users specified in config.php files are needed. I recommend to contact your hosts.

Feel free to post your config.php file (be sure you'll rip a password :))

First: Edit your post, Michael, and remove your db password ASAP!

Second: Your config.php file looks just fine. As already mentioned, contact your host, send them the error you recieved and ask them to add privileges for Michael/password to the db RPforum. Note this user must have sufficient rights (to read, to write, to alter, to create, to delete, etc.).

          Hope this helps. ;)

you forgot to put all the files in your root folder :)!:
              index.php, member.php, memberlist.php, showthread.php and all the others.

I don't have most of these files!

May be because I use VBulletin lite? When I have them, in which folder do I have to them in?

                  Success

Good news good news! I got mine up and running! (acutally, my brother did.) So, all's well with the world again. Good luck, Michael! hope you can get your problems straightened out!

(i asked my bro what he did different....he said he simply started clean, took out all my files and followed the instructions on the vbulletin page. maybe there was some stupid step i was overlooking. i have no idea. anyway, it really does work!)
