the 'Adding A User' step during installation

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused about the "adding a user" step. Is that mandatory? I don't want to require people to log in just to view the boards - just when they post.

So do I have to add users or user groups at all, or does the registration process kick in automatically when a user wants to post a message? I've read the whole vBulletin manual, but I'm just not sure how that works.

That step is required as you won't be able to get into the CP without it.

As for "logging into view", they only have to do that if you remove the unregistered/not logged in usergroup's "can view" permisssions. If you allow the above mentioned group to post, they won't even have to log in. If you don't want unregistered's to post, then they'll need to register.
