PHPads - Or is there a better advertising solution?

    Hi,

On my site I am running PHPads - but I can't get the damn thing to work on the forum. I have a banner setup which is simply an image which is linked, so I get no stats and can't rotate banners etc.

I really want to get PHPads working with vBulletin - have any of you managed to do this yet? Have you found that another program works better?

    Thanks in advance,
    Michael Bray

I've tried PHPADS but have found some limitations -- any "HTML" code that you stick in there cannot include Javascript apparently -- it messes everything up when we try and add our flycast, doubleclick, etc. javascript banners. I finally just stuck the HTML code into a PHP file as a print statement -- and used phpAds for less complex ads (e.g. our banners, other banners + link, etc.).

If they come up with a less buggy version (with the HTML ad thing in particular) then we'll be able to use it!

Another portion that is lacking is the fact that you can't weight ads to display -- like if someone buys 300,000 impressions at a 1 in 10 ratio, you want to show your flycase banners 10 times and theirs once. There should be a way to do that without custom modification. I want to be able to say "showad( );" and have it display one based on my weighted settings.

          werehere,

If I can figure out a nice algorithm to use for that sort of thing I might just "fix" their copy when I have some free time... perhaps a hack for VB which includes phpAds total integration? :)

What about WebAdverts? It uses CGI (perl) via SSI or IMG tags... Find it at cgi-resources.com
