Right off the bat: php/MySQL. That should tell you everything you need to know. But there is so much more - like templates, etc.

Here are some threads that may interest you:

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=1567

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=1166

They are all threads about UBB vs. vBulletin.

Hope this helps :)

PS: If it helps you, I was a UBB user who converted to vB without a hitch, and have been extremely pleased with the results.

He is one of the many vB users who were once loyal UBB users. But due to several recent happenings at InfoPop, many users have made a wise choice to make the switch, myself included.
Many of the more well known "UBB Hackers" have moved on to vB

Thanks alot.

Also, I just bought it. If I have trouble setting it up, would one of you two be able to help me install it? I would be very thankful.

Thanks,
Fred

it's really pretty painless to install :)

about every problem that can be had is somewhere in the installation forum and you can always post ?'s there.

I too love vBulleting - and the community around it :)

I have used UBB, UB2K and vB and out of all of them, I still prefer vB.
It just feels more friendly (even tho the control panel could be made nicer) :)

Thanks everyone.

I'll keep you undated on the status.

Also, that copyrigh tinfo at the bottom. Do I have to keep it? Do I have permission to edit it?

Thanks,
Fred

yes, you have to display it in some form or other on the site.

James and John are pretty felxible about it, though...

I was thinking maybe just have it say "Powered by vBulletin".

I was reading some posts about this the other day, and John and James said as long is there is some form of a vB copyright somewhere on the pages, they would be happy. Unless I misinterpreted something, I believe "Powered by VBulletin" should be fine.

I think they want the copyright there more than the "powered by"...
