    Upgrading to PHP7

I thought it was as easy as changing the AddHandler application/x-httpd-php56 .php .php5 to use php7 instead of -php56

    It isn't.
When I do that it downloads the index.php file.
    What am I missing?

Uck - stupid. Commenting out the AddHandler entirely fixes it.
    Mods please delete.

You need to contact your hosting provider for assistance in configuring your web server including PHP and MySQL. This is outside the scope of vBulletin support.

I am glad that you were able to resolve the issue easily.
