VB4 folders to keep for the upgrade to VB5

    Hi all
I have been reading the instructions on upgrading to VB5 from 4.2.5
The instructions tell me to upload the new VB5 files to an empty folder.
It also says I must keep the folders from the old VB4 install like attachments etc.

Do I have to put the old VB4 folders that are required into the new folder where the VB5 folders and files will be going?
    Regards
    Trevor

The only folders to keep from vB4 are any user created content folders, if you store these in the file system.

That basically means attachments, avatars, sigpics, group icons, that sort of thing.

If these are stored in the database then you don't need to keep anything at all.

As always, you should keep an offline backup of all the files and also the database.

      Hi
OK, so all attachments are in the file system plus other things as you say.
So do I leave the folders where they are currently are or move them into the VB5 folder?
      Regards
      Trevor

Ultimately, the vB5 folder will be renamed to be the same of your live forum. So you will want to migrate these storage locations if necessary. However, your own configuration determines what needs to be done. Do you have the settings for these forums like this: './attachments'? Or like this: '/var/www/public_html/forums/attachments'?

          Hi Wayne
I am not quite sure what settings you mean?
The server path to the forum files is /var/www/vhosts/s12121212.onlinehome-server.info/name of folder

I have altered the number and the name of the folder above.

And the Attachments folder is as above but with /attachments at the end.

Do you mean a setting somewhere in the admincp or elsewhere?

Sorry for being a bit dense with this.........
          Regards
          Trevor
