    Hello

In the root of the forum, rename

    htaccess.txt

    to

    .htaccess

Note the period / dot at the front.

What OS is the server running?

You need rewrite rules turned on.

Hi Mark, rules are turned on. Do I need to edit the .htaccess file?

I have ran into this issue or similar issues. The times I ran into this is when I had styles set to cache and store as files. When updating the site, I've had to set them to no and then reenable those, and then clear the site's cache to reset the cache. This may not be your issue but worth trying if your conditions are the same.

              Enjoy,
              William

If mod_rewrite is enabled, check the Apache config file does not have "AllowOverride None". If it does then change it to "AllowOverride All" in order to allow mod_rewrite commands to be set in the .htaccess file.
