Problem with threads posts after 5.2.5 update

Hello,

The professional update was finished today and a lot of forum threads have just 1 post (the initial post) instead of hundreds.

I've build the index with Sphynx, I've rebuilt Topic information, it is useless.

Before the upgrade, in 3.7, all was ok. Any ideas? I practically can't use the forum.

Mark, we can't attach files, everybody receives the error invalid_attachment_storage.

Is there something to be done about that?

That's probably a simpler issue.

we will work on stuff like that if we can sort the threads issue. That is a major problem and it is possible the upgrade has not worked and may have to be reverted and restarted.

Maybe if it will be reverted to prune the private messages older than 3 years, to lower the database size?

Attachements and Avatars are in the file system, that can be ok.

The problem si that the upgrade lasted for 2 days of downtime.

There isn't much of a way of avoiding that to be honest.

I have to say, from what I have seen so far and the performance of the server, I don't think you're going to have a happy time on vB5. It's a different product and not just a straight upgrade. Its focus is different.

What version were you running before? I feel that vB4 is going to be a better bet.

I was running 3.7.4. I can try to find a faster server, I have hosting options. Your cloud can accommodate such a forum?

If vB5 is not that stable and if the import goes well in vb$ we can leave vB4 for the moment.

Personally I like more vB5, is more modern.

I'm not the technincian handling the ticket (it's Trevor) so he will have a better knowledge of what's gone on, but I would be thinking along the lines of restoring back to vB3 for now (possibly putting that on 3.8.9 so it's up to date and works on current php), then getting a test copy of that set up, on its own database, possibly on a better server, and running a test upgrade on that. Probably taking it it to vB4 first, verifying that works, and then on to vB5 after that. That is my preferred path for upgrades that are throwing up problems, but Trevor may have his own so I will let him look at it.

The attachment upload thing is easy, either the path is wrong or the permissions or wrong, those can be easily sorted but it isn't the major issue at this time.

Personally - I'd close the site for now as the upgrade is not really finished, and let Trevor have a closer look in the morning. It's always possible there's a fix, I've only looked at it fairly briefly so far.

It is a good plan, if Trevor does not do some magic. I will close the forum tonight, in Romania was a big football derby and people commented a lot, it was a pity not to live a good match there.

Anyway, thank you for the dedication of vBulletin to complete this upgrade, even though it did not went well from the 1st attempt. Some people were complaining here, I had a fear not to be left like that, but from what I see you are on top of this and still have it under consideration. I hope that Trevor puts it as a priority, because as you say things are not ok and the upgrade has not succeed now.
