    Upgrade from 3.7 > 5

    Hello,

I want to upgrade from 3.7 to latest 5 version. It I update the PHP to 5.5, which is mandatory before the upgrade to 5.5, will the 3.7 version still work? I wouldn't like to have an unfunctional forum until the upgrade is ready.

    Regards.

No...you'll need to do this in a staged way.

What is your current version of php?

      The PHP is 5.4.38.

Can I upgrade to 3-8-9_Patch_Level_1 and then upgrade to PHP 5.6? Would that be ok?

And after that to upgrade to 5. (here I have the paid professional update service).

Yes that would work, but if you've paid for the professional upgrade, we will handle both parts of the upgrade, the only bit you'll need to do is arranging the php upgrade in between.

When you fill in the worksheet, please include a link to this thread in the notes so we know what's what.

Thank you for the details, Mark.

I wanted to make the provisional upgrade to 3.8 just to keep the Forum working after the PHP 5.6 update. I have to make the PHP update now, in the weekend, and the 3.7 forum does not work with PHP 5.6.

But it seems I am not able to make the 3.8 upgrade, I receive errors, I have no other option than to proceed with the PHP update and then wait for you to put the forum again online directly with 5 version, as it was established from the beginning, with the professional update. I suppose the forum will be down for some days, until Monday for sure because nobody works on Sunday and then some other days until you you begin and apply the update.

I would need some support to finalize the install.

Trevor did the 5.2.5 upgrade, but the forums is not displaying the content (threads and posts).

After installing Sphynx and building the forum search index, I either get an error when logged in as an administrator (ss attahced), or I see empty categories. In the empty categories there is the text sphunx_not_configured (ss attached).

Also, the images are missing (avatars) even though the path is correct and the site has no cache system. Ss attached.

Can I get some help here? The previous forum (3.7) worked just fine, this one can't seem to be put on tracks.

Also from 3,4 million posts in vb3 now I see only 2,1 million in vb5. Ss attched.

Upgrade reverted and site now running 4.2.3 due to issues with vB5 on a site of this size.
