    404 Error on Upgrade: 500a1 Step 129

    Hi there,

I'm trying to upgrade a live forum from 4.2.3 and it has errored at 5.0.0 Alpha 1 Step 129.

It is coming up with a 404 error.
    <mywebsite>/vb5/core/install/upgrade.php?version=500a1&step=129

I've tried refreshing & uploading new files.
It is installed in a fresh directory.
I'm not sure what else I can do - the forum has been closed for far too long when I've been trying to sort this and the support ticket that I put in 10 hours ago hasn't been picked up yet.

I don't understand it, because the actual upgrade page that I'm on is the same one that's saying there's a 404 error!?

    Can anyone help?

Looking at your ticket....you're not going to be able to do it using a hosts file like that. The upgrade script isn't going to find the required files.
You need to have it running on your actual domain.

Ah, okay. It's worked for the rest of the file steps okay? And also upgraded from v3 absolutely fine.
I'm moving server and upgrading at the same time, but I don't want to change nameservers until I know that it's updated and running correctly.

      Hmm.
Okay, thank you - I'll see if I can duplicate the vb5 files onto the old server and update it on the old one, then move it across!

It's now on the correct domain without the hosts file, but I am still getting the same error?

I've just had a go at running the script, and you're getting Cloudflare errors.

Please disable Cloudflare and see if you can proceed.

Ask your hosts to increase the MySQL wait_timeout value.

                I have requested it, thanks!
They haven't got back to me yet though - is there any way around it, do you think?
                Appreciate your support!

No, it's a server issue, they will need to change it their end.

                    Hi Mark,

Okay, I have managed to get past that bit now! Hurrah! Thank you.

However, I am now stuck on this bit:

The server returned no response. This is probably due to a timeout setting. Please contact vBulletin Support for assistance

                    Script: 500a28
                    Step: 6

I can't tell you how many times I have refreshed it!

                    This is what they set:
                    max_execution_time = 500

They said that wait_timeout was not something that I could configure?

                      Oh, heck!
One more refresh and it's just moved on again.

Thanks for your help - fingers crossed!
