  • 404 error after install

Installation completes without any errors. The problem is after.
i can see the home page and thats about it. I cant access the blog or the groups or the forums and I can't access admincp or the login. I get a 404 error. The htaccess file is uploaded.

Im running the vb5 from it's own folder and itĘs own database inside the same domain. Cookies is set to that folder in the installation. I have more or less tryed any tips given here in the forums.

vb4.2 is running on bakfylla.org and my vb5 test site is running from bakfylla.org/vb5test

    --- Update ---
Stupid me had the .htaccess file in wron directory. Moving it to the right place generates a 500 error instead. File permissions are set to 755.

It sounds like you didn't upload the required .htaccess file or your server doesn't have mod_rewrite enabled.

I updated the post, don't know if you saw that.
Anyhow, did a phpinfo test and it show that I don't have mod_rewrite... Still something I should look into since the error is different now?

You definitely need to have mod_rewrite enabled in order to run vB5 Connect. It is a system requirement.

Alright. I'll check with my host provider and get back if that don't solve it.

          Thanks for quick reply.

          - - - Updated - - -

And I'm back. Accoding to my provider mod_rewrite is active. Their support told me I might solve this by adding "Rewritebase /" to the .htaccess file, so I added Rewritebase /vb5test/ and now it works. This how ever results in another problem. I cann not login with my admin credentials. Nothing happens when trying to login. The page refreshes but I'm still logged out.

          - - - Updated - - -

I can however log in to the admincp with my admin credentials. And after doing that when going back to the main page I am now showing up as logged in.... ???

What do you have set in AdminCP > Settings > Options > cookie settings > cookie domain? It should be set to .bakfylla.org since you allow users to go to the forum via both www.bakfylla.org and just bakfylla.org
