Setting up a VB5 test site

I purchased a vB5 license last week and started a new site using vB4. Are there any instructions or guides for setting up a vB5 site for testing? Should that be done inside the existing vB4 directory (like it was done before) or should everything be kept separate from the vB4 site?

Keep everything separate. Separate root folder. Separate forum folder. Separate database. Different database and cookie prefixes. The file structures are entirely different.

The sticky notes at the top of this forum are a great place to start. Make sure you meet the minimum php and MYSQL requirements. Some hosts do not.

If you run into problems, it is likely with the core path. Use the tools provided. makeconfig.php and server.php both ease the process, although you should make certain that the path rendered by server.php ends with /core or you will have problems.
