Has anyone been able to install succesfully on Godaddy hosting? Godaddy says it's vBulletins problem and vBulletin says it's probably Godaddy's problem. It's hard to believe it can't be made to work properly. HELP.
vBulletin 5 versus Godaddy

We've spent numerous hours trying to work with godaddy to resolve the problems with their configurations. They straight up refuse to work with us. No other single hosting provider gets as many complaints, or has as many issues as godaddy has. We would honestly advise you to find a better webhost. Godaddy's webhosting service is not useful for much outside of hosting static html scripts.
For example, It took 3 hours to install vBulletin 4 on one of their windows shared hosting service. My internal development/test server is a dual core atom processor, it takes less than 5 min to run the install script on this server.
The problem is godaddy. -
The return policy is stated in the license agreement. Once the software is downloaded we're not able to offer a refund. vbulletin 4.x should work slightly better on their services, though it may still have problems.Comment

Fk. I just paid for a year of godaddy to see if my VB5 forum install would work there.
THEN I read
Warning:
GoDaddy servers do not meet the minimum requirements for vBulletin 5 at this time. Also we recommend not using GoDaddy's Windows servers with vBulletin 5.
And the hits keep comingComment

Godaddy can work for you. Godaddy shared hosting and vbulletin sucks (Godaddy's fault) But if you can upgrade to a VDS (Vertial Dedicated Server) you can full control over the system, I pay $27 a month.
The only issue is, you need to be your own server support, because its dedicated. But the benefits are much greater. VB support, tell me if I am wrong.Comment

We do not make official recommendations, but we do have a hosting review forum here:
Discuss PHP and MySQL hosting here. Find out which hosts people like, and which to stay well clear of.
You can also look at http://www.webhostingtalk.com, an independent review site. Sometimes you will find hosting specials there that aren't available elsewhere on the web.Comment

Weird. I just installed vBulletin 5 on GoDaddy and haven't had any problems yet. Key word might be 'yet.'
Never mind. Tried to upgrade, and got this:
vBulletin 5 requires MySQL version 5.1.5 or greater. Your MySQL is version 5.0.96-log, please ask your host to upgrade.

by imgnrmI'm using Deluxe Linux hosting plan on godday.com but I don't think godaddy meet vBulletin 5.3.0 system requirements.
While I was installing vB, it kept frozen, first at 73%. And step 14...-
