    Problem with new install

I installed vBulletin Connect a few months ago before going live. It was working well. I planned to go live this week, so upgraded to 5.0.4, but had some issues. The simplest thing to do was to reinstall from scratch, which is what I did.

When I set it up to begin with, I am told in the instructions to:
    Rename /vb5/config.php.bkp to config.php.
Set the baseurl to the url of the vb5 directory. For example, http://www.example.com/vb5

... but there is no entry in this file to set the base URL. So I left it as it is.

I can log on to Admin CP, but it does not allow me to do page edits.

    I can confirm that I have mod_rewrite:

    /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -D DUMP_MODULES | grep rewrite
    rewrite_module (static)
    Syntax OK

I had to upgrade php (now on 5.4.18) and MySQL is on 5.5.

Every page I go to as a user (admin is fine), I get the message 'If this is your first visit...':

That action could not be completed. Please try again, and if this occurs again please contact the system administrator and tell them how you got this message.

If I log in as admin on the site (as a user), when I click on the 'on/off' button for Edit Site, I get:

    Error activating SiteBuilder.

    Please try again.

I have tried a complete reinstall again, and it is exactly the same. I do have the .htaccess file.

Please could I have some help?!

    Thanks in advance.

The config.php in the root directory doesn't need edits anymore, it just has to be renamed to config.php (from config.php.bkp). You also need to rename and edit the config.php.new in core/includes.

Then you should upload all files from the upload folder to your server/webspace and run the installation.

Thanks. That confirms that I have done everything correctly, but it doesn't work. I'm hoping someone with a similar problem can tell me what they did to make it work!
