How to use the Channel Manager

Here are a few tips to help you use the Channel Manager to create forums

1) Home Page cannot be removed
2) Forum uses the Home Page as its parent
3) Category 1 uses the Forum as its parent
4) Forum 1 uses Category 1 as its parent
5) Sub-Forum 1 uses Forum 1 as its parent
6) The rest of the channels follow the same logic

Also note the Blogs, Groups, Uncategorized Groups and Special channels should not be deleted.

Yes there's a note for that in Site Builder but it's a very quick and easy to use in display orders ... etc.

i have an idea for my forum, i want to lock certain features of my forum for example if you are a guest you can only view but once registered most features are unlocked and so on, im new to this so please bare with me and how can i go about it?

That isn't a feature of vBulletin 5 at this time.

Every channel is separated with a colored bar. Is it possible to have Channels grouped together without being separated? And I'm talking about full channels, not sub-channels. I'd like to separate certain topics by subject on my forum, but as it is now every channel is separated by a bar.

You see that done all the time on VB 3 or 4 forums, but I'm guessing it's just another thing VB 5 can't do.

I'm just trying to understand channel management and how to use channels. I don't get the difference between moderators and channel owners and I've posted a topic about that in feedback here.

I get the idea of the channels and being able to delegate management of parts of the site to other people. But I don't yet get the difference between "channel owners" (which forums don't have but Groups and Blogs do) and moderators. Feel free to elucidate. E.g. if someone creates a blog or a group does the system automatically add them to the "channel owners" group for you? If so, how do you see which "channel owners" belong to which channels? Your picture shows the moderator column in the admin cp but if a "channel" has a "channel owner" does it need a moderator?

You won't have a default group category. You can recreate it in the AdminCP.
