Regarding site map xml problem with google

    Hello,

Google does not accept zipped or tarred site map,

I have to manually extract it each time to submit

I put in robots the links to the extracted xml

Is there anyway to let the site map in xml not tared from the start?

    Thanx

Did something change with Google? They used to accept the gzipped version that we create. What was their response when you asked why your XML was rejected?

The file you should be submitting to Google is the /core/xmlsitemap.php link.

Do I need also to locate the php link of sitemab in robots instead of the xml?

Index.xml would lead the search bot to the others. That is the entire reason it exists because we don't know how many files will be created.

However we insert a link in the header so searchbots can find the XML Site Map.

There is no /admin directory in vBulletin. The other is all up to you. We don't ship with a robots.txt file because it needs to be in the root directory of the site and we can't guarantee that vBulletin is in that directory and different sites have different needs. Plus robots.txt is only followed by "good bots." Many ignore it altogether.
