That sounds like a possible temporary workaround. BUT, would this break links in the notification emails just like deleting a message does, or is does unapprove work differently.

I don't know. I suspect they will get the same error. The workaround would be to allow your registered users to view deletion notices but that can cause other issues.

I believe that this is the same thing we are constantly having issues with and the tracker was closed

Carrfixr , your case did look similar, but I think this time Wayne did a better job of explaining the issue in the bug tracker. Please vote for the current one and encourage all your fellow VB colleagues to do the same; perhaps we have a chance of getting it fixed.

Lets hope it doesn’t end up like my lost comment issue. I fought tooth and nail to get it through all the way for a fix. The update comes out and the fix was a flop, now it’s forgotten forever. Or so it seems

This should be very easy to replicate here

Well there were a page of reply's and two comments. My last one above and one from you on another thread. I went through all the reply's and then lost your comment on a totally different topic. Then I went through some more reply's and lost my last comment. It does do it here.
This doesn't help us replicate things though. We need exact steps. What are the exact links did you click on to make the comments disappear? What are the URLS of the comments? Are using the BACK button to get back to search? Reloading the search? Are you opening topics in new tabs to read them? All of these are relevant bits of information that we've been trying to obtain in order to replicate the issue.

To be honest, the standard searches I use don't differentiate between topic starters, replies, or comments. The type of post isn't important to me so the more information that you can provide the better.

Back button or to the unread there is no difference. When you have time just try it yourself, it pretty prevalent

Please everyone vote before Monday or this will never see the light of day.. I am certain this bug is annoying your users and they are simply not reporting the issue:

To be honest, these are two different issues. Your issue was closed as a Duplicate. Not because it was determined not to be an issue.

However, we can't remove an email after it is sent. That is where this issue coming from. It is also a more significant issue than having a notification appear in your Message Center.
