Good morning. About a year ago, I upgraded my forum from vb 3.8.x to vb 5. After that upgrade, we experienced a lot of performance problems that were eventually resolved with the help of this forum.
Since then, our web host (ServInt) was bought and our server was migrated to the new owner (LeaseWeb). Now, we are again experiencing performance problems and I'm just not sure how to diagnose them.
Last night was Day 1 of the NFL draft and my NFL-related forum was close to unusable with less than 200 members posting/refreshing the forum. (God help us if our team ever starts winning and the forum gets popular.)
So, where do I start? First, know that we are on 5.4.4 right now. But we've been on this version a long time without performance issues.
The host claims nothing was changed during the transition to the new owner. We have a VPS Virtual Server 1 Core 3GB of RAM 60GB of storage with them.
Below are the screenshots I took in the Admin CP last night:

If you have any ideas on what to tweak or check, please let me know.
Thank you.

the load spike is due to the php-cgi scripts which are executed during the access to the forum.

So you may have to check with the web developer and perform necessary optimizations to the php script in order to improve the performance. Otherwise, upgrading the server plan is the next option. On server upgrade, the available resources in the server will also increase such as CPU,memory etc so that will also help.
