How come you cannot add pictures using the camera icon / button after posting a topic? Edit> camera icon is not available. Must use another option which is not as user friendly.

You can upload additional photos to a photo gallery. Edit doesn't show the "Content Type" selection icons because it is already selected as a Photo Gallery. You can't change this while editing. However underneath the post and list of images, there should be both an "Upload and "Insert from Photo Album" button. If they user hasn't reached the maximum allowed uploads for the post, they can add more.

You can edit existing pictures because the post was started with the camera icon and so is already of the correct content type.MARK.B

Clicking on one of the thumbnails within a Photo Gallery will show the images in Slideshow based Lightbox so the user can see larger images. You cannot insert Photo Gallery images inline.
If you want to insert images inline within a Rich Text topic, then use the Attachments tool.Translations provided by Google.

Content Types have specific requirements.- Photo Galleries require photos.
- Links require a "valid" URL. If the URL is a recognized video URL (i.e. YouTube), we consider this to be the Video Content Type.
- Polls require a question and answer choices.
- Events require a date.
If you do not select any of these Content Type options, then you have the default content type of Rich Text which requires text with a minimum of 10 characters in a default configuration. You cannot switch between content types after the post is saved. Each content type has its own specific display.
Editor Tools allow you to format the Rich Text content added to any content type. The three tools available are attachments, the rich text editor menu, and the Smilie panel. Selecting one of these should keep it open the next time you use the editor.
These are two distinct sets of features and functionality. We have hidden content types as well. For instance, forums, articles, private messages, blogs, and groups are all Content Types. Content Types can also be expanded via third-party products. So someone could add a Spreadsheet Content Type, Recipe Content Type, or a Garage Content Type if they wish.Last edited by Wayne Luke; Mon 18 Nov '19, 8:15am.Translations provided by Google.

The image will be inserted where the cursor (indicated by a blinking vertical line) is located within the editor. This is pretty standard behavior in all Rich Text Editors even word processors like Microsoft Word. We have no other way of determining where you want the image located.
If the image is inserted in a location that isn't optimal, you can actually click on the image and drag it to another location in the post. There is a "drag" handle at the top left corner that shows when editing the post.
You can also double-click the image to set 1) custom sizes, 2) float it (left, right or center) so text wraps around it, and 3) turn on the ability to caption the image.
If you have other ideas, on how this should be handled with "inline" images, then please provide them.

Inline image inserts in vBulletin 4.X works the same. Both vBulletin 5 and vBulletin 4 use the same editor. vBulletin 4 just has fewer options to correct the issues.
Not really sure how to fix this if your users aren't willing to learn. I guess we could create an option that allows attachments but prevents users from using them inline. Then all images will be in the Attached Files box at the bottom of the post.Translations provided by Google.

That would be a real good improvement. The pictures should post at the bottom of the post no matter where the cursor is at. I would say that 99.9% of our users have their text pushed around and split up. Using the light box works great for that reason, but then gets confusing for editing the picture with the other options showing. Basically there is to much going on with no way to limit them. Using a phone or a tablet makes it that much harder to place the cursor properly. It’s been a while but I don’t recall some of the earlier VB versions shoving it around when posting attachments.Last edited by Carrfixr; Mon 18 Nov '19, 2:58pm.Comment
