Error: No Permissions On Node ID 1

Hello all,

Not 100% new to VB but not an expert by a long shot. I am having an issue with AdminCP which comes up now and again for myself and other Admins trying to access AdminCP. We can seemingly login, but when logged in we get a screen stating the error of "No Permissions On Node ID 1" (See attachment screenshot). The only thing I think that is causing this is IP address. I notice I get this error on my side if I have used a VPN thus changing my IP address. I also believe it is IP related as I created a new Admin account for a user that is overseas, and while I can login to it just fine, he will get the "No Permissions On Node ID 1" error.

Is there a way to configure VB to avoid this issue ? If you do not believe it to be IP based (Even though evidence suggests it) what else could be it and how do I kill the problem ?

Clearing browser Cache/Cookies makes no difference

I am running VB 5.5.0, PHP Version 7.2.12, MySQL Version 5.6.41-cll-lve

The most common cause of this error, in my testing, in being logged into the AdminCP but not into the front end. I found this error resolves if you login to the front end first and check the "Remember Me" box and then login to the AdminCP.

Thanks for the reply, we will have to give that a go. I have relayed that idea to my guy, so I will see if he has any luck, if so then I will post back here. If anyone else has any other theories in the meantime then please do share just in case

The only other theory is that you've denied access for Administrators to access the "Home Page" channel in the AdminCP. Anyone that is not a Super Administrator will not be able to access the site at all if this is done.

You can specify the numerical UserIDs of your super administrators in the /core/includes/config.php file. For best practices and security, there should only be one user listed here.

Just wanted to pop back and say thanks and to confirm for anyone else having this issues. You do indeed have to be logged into the front end of your VB site prior to accessing AdminCP, otherwise you get the error (or at least in my case I do). When using older versions of VB I never had this crop up before, live and learn.

As per best practice only one of my accounts is a superadmin, you do not want a league of those bad boys !

Hmm. Whilst that's a valid workaround, it isn't supposed to be necessary, so something remains wrong somewhere.

If this works, you most likely have an expired password. Administrator passwords expire every 180 days with default settings.

I did not consider that, is there a way to change the default behavior of the setting regarding password expiration ?

You can change Usergroup options including password expiration in the AdminCP under Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager.
