Administrative permission questions

When the forum was begun there was one administrator. Then we added 2 more. But it looks like the original one has greater access than the others. If the 2nd or 3rd admin tries to access Administrator permissions, it is denied access. But the first admin can access those permissions. However, when I look at the three admin permissions, the first admin has it's permissions all set to NO. The second admin is set to all YES with the exception of system changes, and the third one is set all to NO.

I don't understand how that first admin can have greater permissions overall but be listed as all NOs. Does this make any sense to you?

The first administrator is usually User ID 1 which is already a super administrator in the config.php file.

You can obviously do what ever you like but I strongly advise against having more than one super administrator.

As a matter of course I highly advise against having more than one administrator.

In your /core/includes/config.php file find this code:

Edit the values between the '' to designate additional super moderators or to remove permission from User ID# 1. These should be the user's numerical ID and a comma separated list. e.g. '1,2,3'.

If you have removed all permissions from User ID# 1 then you should remove this user from this list and delete it from the database using the AdminCP. At the very least, the usergroup should be changed to Registered Users on this user.

Thanks for the clarification Wayne. As long as there is nothing wrong, will leave it it is. I heartily agree that there should be only one admin but sometimes committees have a hard time agreeing on things. LOL. Thanks again.
