Smilies Not working

My smilies were transferred , but do not work. So I copied them to the images/smilies directory, and still not visible.
I deleted them all, and tried to mass re-add, but only 11 came through.
When I try and add them singularly, it says it already exists, despite me deleting all past smilie records.
What can I try next ?

They should be in the /core/images/smilies directory.

Your URL for them in the editor should be relative. Usually all you need is filename.ext.

This did it, I had the smilies in another directory, it included a sub-set of the same ones in /core/images/smilies, which is why I was confused that only a partial upload was happening.
If I tried to do many hundreds of imports, it came up with a table error, so keeping it to a batch of 10 allowed me to bring back all the smilies.
