how to reduce the amount of text in the result of a search

    Hello everybody,

Happy New Year 2019 to everyone!

Just one question: how can I reduce the amount of text displayed in search results when it is only a blog?

I would like to display the same number of characters as in the result of a search for forum but only for Post blogs.

In my image as an example, I have hatched the text to be deleted in the result to have the same display as the result of a forum post.

The post is edited with the html option enabled

I can't recreate this issue. Have you customized any CSS or templates?

In my example all of my content is 5 paragraphs or more of random Latin.

Thank you Luke for your answer.

yes I have created custom css rules. But, even if I choose a blank style, without customization, the problem remains the same.

When I create a blog post, I choose the html option enabled, because I build my html pages for more flexibility.

Do you have a space where I can send you a copy of the html file, or give you access to my site so you can see for yourself?

          Regards.

Could you tell me how you're generating the search result?

Is it a module? If so, what are the settings for that module?

Is it the quick search from the search bar?

Is it an advanced search? What options are you using?

Is it a direct JSON search? If so what is the JSON string used?

              ok Luke,

Is it a module? If so, what are the settings for that module? NO

Is it the quick search from the search bar? YES

Is it an advanced search? What options are you using? NO

Is it a direct JSON search? If so what is the JSON string used? NO

Test : even when I use the advanced search and choose the compact display mode (or other), the result is the same in the display

Never mind, I can recreate it with the HTML code on this page: https://codepen.io/ericrasch/pen/qIiyK

I suspect it is the wrapping <DIV>. What is your HTML?

Here are two examples of html files:

But even using a style without custom css, the problem remains the same for the display

One thing about using HTML. You should not include the HTML, HEAD, or BODY tags in your content. vBulletin will already add these for the page and they shouldn't be duplicated.

For the actual issue, the developers will have to look into it.

                        Okay luke,

I did a test by deleting html, head and body, and the search result is the same. (I just tested it sometimes...)

I saw for the opening of the bug, thanck ! I hope it will be fixed, because in the presentation of the results, it is not "pretty". one phrase alone would more than sufficient.

                        Best Regards.

No, it doesn't solve anything about my previously created posts.
                              Thanck
