    Database size smaller after upgrade

    Hello guys,

I just upgraded my vB 5.4.3 forum to the latest 5.4.4 version.

As a security measure, I always backup database before and after the upgrade. I made sure to optimize tables and also cleared system cache before backing up database before and after the upgrade.

The size of the database before upgrading was 267 MB and after the upgrade, it is showing 133 MB. Does not look like I have lost any information but if the database size has cut down to half, something must be missing.

Has anyone else experienced this with their installation/forum?

I even run through all the Maintenance items but no difference. I'm seriously bummed thinking what is going on with the database size.

    Would appreciate some help here.

    Thanks!

We remove obsolete tables from time to time. In addtion to this, we empty the cache and cache event tables during an upgrade. Both of these will affect your database size.

      Ok understood Wayne.

That explains the much smaller database size after upgrading.

      Thanks.
