VBulletin upgrade from V4.2.5 to VB5 Connect - posts and users

Hello, I am fully aware that the databases for the two versions are very different, so the upgrade just deletes the previous databases. Is there a method or an app (besides phpmyadmin, etc.) that I can use to export the users and their data as well as their posts and then import them into VB5 Connect?

And I guess same question goes for forums and posts?

I really like the possibilities offered in VB5, so I want to upgrade... but having everyone resubscribe and lose their posts is not really an option.

    Thanks
    SL

When you upgrade from 4 to 5, all the content will be carried over. Otherwise, no one would upgrade.

Also, the upgrade doesn't delete the database. It adds some new tables and removes others that are no longer required.

If you run the install script, and tell it to delete all the tables during the process, there is no way to recover this except to restore a database backup.

To upgrade to vBulletin 5, you would need to have a restored database backup with your vBulletin 4.2.5 content. Then run upgrade.php. The steps are specifically listed in the vb5readme.html that ships with your software, in the online documentation and on these forums - https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...lletin-connect
