    CMS Author Settings

    Where would I edit the Author settings for articles?
    Does the Author have to do disable it every time?

      The "Display Author" setting? there is no way to turn this off by default.

          I thought maybe every Author had the option to choose if his name was visible or not?

            It is a per article setting, not a per user setting. Not really sure what its purpose is to be honest. It was just ported over from vBulletin 4 so someone had a need for it there.

            For such a big software I can see why this is needed. You have a big site with lots of writers and some may choose to add there name by the article and some don´t.
