change username link

Hi,

My vbulletin instance is part of a wider site with external pages. These external pages have a user profile containing much more info than the vbulletin profile so i would rather have the username linked to the external profile than the vbulletin one (and have link from the external to go to the internal.

Is there any way to achieve this ?
Having a look at the template this would mean changing the "vb:url 'profile'" to get it to point to the external one, but would the vbulletin profile still be accessible ?
Can i do the change globally using replacement variables ?

You would have to make changes throughout the system to catch all the links. So each instance of vb:url profile needs to be updated in every template. You cannot do this via replacement variables since vb:url profile is 1) three words and 2) will never appear in the output when the replacement variables are made.

So go to Search in Templates and search for the string. Update every template that comes up on the list. A third-party developer may be able to create an extension that redirects the vb:url profile to your main site.

I might be able to use the replacement variable to replace https://www.mysite.com/forum/member/ by
https://www.mysite.com/user/ for example.

Although I would have to make sure the userid-username part is identical.

Maybe. Just know that replacement variables are universal and replace everything. THis includes text within posts, usernames, and any link that might match.

Yes, I did some testing and it does not seem to mess up user profile and settings, so it looks nice.
i will do some more testing if I end up going on that direction.
