Invalid File Specified when trying to view image

    Hi all,

I just created a new user group and can't seem to find the reason why the people in my group can't see images.
Whenever the user clicks on the image name (located in the attachment menu since the image won't load), the user will be redirected to a page with the text : "Invalid File Specified".

The group does have the "Can download image attachments" and "Can download non-image attachments" option both been set to YES.
In my own user group (The admin group), I can view the images and so can my forum moderators.

Is anyone familiar with this problem and/or knows how to solve it?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jenoah

Do they have permission to view that file type under Attachments -> Attachment Permissions?

Clear the cache under Maintenance -> Clear System Cache.
Rebuild the Usergoup Datastore by editing the usergroup in question and clicking save.
Log out with the user having the problem. Log back in.

        Still having the same problem?

            Hi Wayne Luke ,

I thought that the problem was fixed, but it only has fixed the attachment pictures.
The problem I now have is the same, although it now is about the inline photo's placed in topics.
When I'm logged in on my admin account, I can see the photo's just fine.
Whenever I am logged in on my test account which is in the affected group, I only see the link of the image which redirects to the "Invalid File Specified" page.

Any other idea's what it can be?
I also just updated the forum, but sadly, it did not solve the issue...

            Thanks

Updates will rarely fix issues unless there is a specific JIRA for that issue in the upgrade.

This is a permission issue. Unfortunately, without ticket support, we cannot log in and review your permission set up.

The end user should have the following channel permissions (Usergroups -> Channel Permissions):
              Can View Others' Topics
              Can Download Non-Image Attachments
              Can Download Image Attachments

Under Attachments -> Attachment Permissions -
The user should be set to "Use Usergroup Defaults" or "Yes" to view the attachment.

With unregistered users, you cannot change their attachment permissions.

                Hi Wayne,

I just can't seem to find what's set wrong.
For so far as my knowledge goes, I have set everything correctly...

I've included a picture so you can see as well what my settings are.

I've also checked the attachment menu and that seems correct also.

                Thanks,
                Jenoah

                  Hi Wayne,

It seemed that the problem indeed was a permission problem.
Although it wasn't a problem with the usergroup permissions, it actually was a problem regarding the channel permissions.
Some of the channels had custom permissions instead in the inherited permissions. This is weird because I can't not recall any memory of me changing these permissions.

                  Anyway, it is sorted.
Thanks for all the effort you put in.

                  Regards,
                  Jenoah

Usergroup permissions just provide a default baseline for channel permissions. They are really the same thing under the hood.
