IF there is no actual text in the post. For example, it is just a LINK topic to another site, this will happen. Adding text to the topic will cause the system to use that text instead of the channel description.

Dear this problem with all the topics that were added before the upgrade and All the topic have text.
Can be solved except by re-saving the topic and this is impossible with thousands of topic.

There is currently no way to automatically update these descriptions for topics that existed before upgrading.

          I am unhappy
This is considered a serious matter and a major flaw in vb5
Will result in duplicate meta descriptions of all old topics in the search engine and webmaster tools
vb5 can not have this problem and no solution, It should be resolved automatically
          Is it a solution dear

I am sorry you are unhappy. I can only provide support on how the system works right now.

I am not a developer. I cannot tell the developers what to work on and what to fix. These forums are here to provide support for the software as it currently ships. We do not fix the software or add new functionality to it. If you feel that something needs to be fixed, you need to create a bug ticket with steps to reproduce the issue, what isn't working, and the desired outcome. Once that is done, it will be reviewed by the developers and it will be fixed when weighed against the priorities of every other issue.

                    welcome everybody
I have found a topic that talks about the same problem since 2016.
                    link: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...ta-description
I do not know if there was a ticket for support at the time.
This is a huge flaw in vb5 for anyone who has upgraded
I want to know if this big problem will be solved or I will go back to vBulletin 4
                    Best Regards

I would dispute that it is a “huge flaw”. I appreciate it’s a big issue for you though.

The active tracker entry for this is here: http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBV-18327

Currently it has only one vote, meaning it is unlikely to get worked on in the immediate future.

                        Dear Mark.B
This is already a drawback for the upgrade, but the new sites will not have this problem.
I do not think such a mistake needs a vote
This maybe one reason why you do not upgrade a lot to vb5
Why not solve this is not an advantage but of the core of the program and cause thousands of problems for many.
If i return after upgrade to vb4 for this reason, Please note that there are other clients who have the same problem and returned to vb4 after the upgrade

Then it won't get fixed. It is as simple as that. It takes 2 seconds to click on the "Vote for it" link. Otherwise it will just remain at the end of this list:

I don't know how I can be more blunt about this. We won't consider it a major issue it people won't take 2 seconds to vote for it.

But when the error causes harm to customers and to websites, this does not require a vote.
And you are assured that this error caused a lot of downgrade to upgrade to vb5.
And I am one of the people I will retreat from the upgrade because of this .. It is not possible to destroy my site because of a mistake in the program is waiting for the vote.
I was hoping to solve it ... Best Regards

It doesn't cause a loss of data to the software. SEO isn't one of the criteria used to prioritize issues. The issue is categorized as minor. The only thing to improve on that is votes.
